Paper Boats

In one summer evening, sudden raindrops started to fell like a pearl. Why I’m mentioning this because there was no rain for the past six months. Only the heat occupied these days, if you step out at noon you can feel a burning effect on your skin. The temperature was crossing 102℃. It was a little surprised to see the unexpected rain now.

I’m comfortably settled down in the armed chair at my balcony. I started watching the sceneries happening around me. Dark clouds get surrounded and immediate thunder has flashed in the sky. It was like a glowing root, disappeared within a second. The birds are flying to a beloved nest at their maximum speed. In neighbor's houses, mothers are in a hurry in taking up of dried clothes by shouting at their children, to get them inside their house and order not to play in the rain. With disappointment, children are getting back to their nest like the birds.

Plants and trees, even a tiny grass looks like, they are welcoming the rain after long days. Suddenly it started to rain heavily, everyone has settled at their home. Children are obeying their mother's order. Now a complete silence has surrounded me, except lyrics of the rain accompanying the thunder.

A few drops of rain fell on to my face, like water drops on grass in early morning. I preferred, cup of soup at this time, I went to the kitchen, within five minutes, prepared it and again settled down in that same position at the balcony. I’m started taking up the soup slowly, by watching the rain and by hearing the music of nature, which felt warm from mouth to the stomach through the oesophagus. It was like heaven. It was better than watching the television.

About an hour later, it stopped raining. I start to head up to my room, but the screaming noise stopped me. I noticed a group of four children shouting with the daily newspapers in their hands. After few discussions, they have made a final decision in the conference and ready to build a giant ship for sailing into the sea. For them, drained water after the rain was the sea and a ship was their paper boats. They joined together and made four paper boats, written their names Arav, Akil, Navin, Gokul in each boat respectively and happily let their boats into the water.

I can notice happiness on their faces without any worries. They don’t care what was happening around them, just enjoying what they are. If they fell down, they just happily get up and move on. Why only adults are stagnating into the situation which may not leave them to achieve their wishes. Once we are a child, we want to grow sooner, after we are grown into adults, the only thought was “Want to become a child again”.

After half & hour, it started raining again. The children are trying to step into the drained water to safeguard their boats. Arav stepped upon the Navin’s boat (maybe with or without knowing) to save his own, but while taking his boat into his hands, it tore off into pieces.

Navin was sad and want to fight with him but, went back to his home without saying any word, after watching Arav’s boat was also destroyed.

Gokul’s mother shouted at her son to get back, he was feared and stepped back to his home. His boat was drenched and drowned into the water.

I can see a child named Akil who has reached and saved his boat, who has don’t care what was happening around, the only thought was to save his boat without harming others, but soon after, he threw it into the water, while his mother was calling to come inside the home. It has happened in just 15 seconds but, we can see the message from each child.

Message 1 - Arav: Don’t snatch away the opportunity or dreams of others (whether it may be intentional or not), for blooming yourself. That will end up in the budding stage of your dreams. It will not lost long.

Message 2 - Navin: Fight for your rights (be a child, never let a stranger to snatch your chocolate). Be calm, but have to speak where to be spoken.

Message 3 - Gokul: To be won or failed is only the matter of second, participation is the first way of approach to your dreams. Don’t step back without even trying. Reach out of the comfort zone.

Message 4 - Akil: Everyone has the right to dream, only a few reach it. If you are the one among the few, then work for your dreams to grow further. Don’t destroy it in the middle of the journey, due to the distractions.

All the children went under their roofs. I can see only the broken pieces of boats on the surface of the water, which was floating above. It has made the children happy for some time and drained off. Our lives also the same, we think that, we have achieved something like a giant ship, only after we know that it was only a paper boat.
